Shasta Chapter CNPS members Sarah Jarrett, Margaret Widdowson, and yours truly, and North Valley Art League member Sue Mandel, once again joined forces at the Matson Mowder Howe Celebration Garden on a nice, sunny, warm February day.  We planted the third batch of Shasta Chapter CNPS-donated plants (nine plants!), performed general garden maintenance, and harvested propagules to propagate for upcoming Shasta Chapter CNPS plant sales.

Future projects include placing irrigation to the 35 new plants, mulching, mulching, mulching, and planting hedges of Nevin’s barberry (Berberis nevinii) and California rose (Rosa californica) to deter people from wandering into the more secluded parts of the garden.

We welcome all volunteers who would enjoy joining us in taking care of the iconic Matson Mowder Howe Celebration Garden. Contact the Chapter at shastacnps@gmail.com to inquire!
