Thanks to all who came out for a workday on Redding’s Westside Trails, on July 7, 2022. We watered, pruned back brush, and put gunny sacks on the tree cages. About 90 jugs of water were distributed amongst all the trees, the most we have done at one time. This will help the seedlings survive another three weeks. And thank you, too, to everyone who has helped in the past.

At a recent public event, Laura Brodhead, an ecologist and land manager with BLM, expressed great enthusiasm about the pruning back of brush and multiple suckers on black and interior live oaks. She is in charge of the area we are working in, and spoke at Shasta Environmental Alliance’s public meeting at the Redding Library, on July 14, 2022.
