Autumn greetings, my friends!  I am so grateful to have made it through another hot summer! It’s time for the beginning of our fall season of cool activities!

We have recently added a new board member, Chuck Dethero, a forester for Western Shasta Resource Conservation District, and a Shasta College Intern, Oceanna Boudway, to our organization. A warm welcome and thank you to these new volunteers!

We are having our annual Fall 2025 Native Plant Sale on October 3 and 4, and we will have a propagation session in November. Stay tuned! I’ll be bringing some white sage cuttings and penstemon root stock to the session. We are seeking volunteers, and we look forward to seeing some new faces to join the many familiar ones!

It will be fun to hike in these cooler temperatures on one of our numerous field trips. It’s also so much nicer to work outdoors. I love the fall so much I have a little ditty I’d like to share with you!

Fall Fun!!

Raking leaves, broadcasting seeds!
And not quite so many weeds.
Jack-O-Lanterns, pumpkin spice!
And the cool fall mornings feel so nice.
Animals preparing for winter,
I listen to the birds sing.
Fall is so much different than spring!
