Shasta Chapter CNPS member and retired Shasta-Trinity National Forest botanist Julie Kierstead, and Luke Ruediger of Klamath Forest Alliance, were recently interviewed by Jefferson Public Radio. The subject was post-fire super blooms and other aspects of plant adaptations to fire. You can listen to the broadcast here: Slater Fire Zone Sees a Flower Super Bloom.

Although the show’s title only references the Slater Fire, which burned in Siskiyou and Josephine counties, they also talked about the 2021 Lava Fire on Mt. Shasta and the Carr-Delta-Hirz fires of 2018.

In addition, there are lots of great photos of super blooms on Luke Ruediger’s blog site: Slater Fire Super Bloom & Fire Effects. Check it out! ~Shasta Chapter CNPS
