Panther Meadows Field Trip
Saturday, August 8, 8 AM

Join the Sierra Club and the Mt. Shasta Area Audubon for a field trip to Panther Meadows on Mt. Shasta and see the headwaters of the Sacramento River. This easy two-mile walk will focus on plants and birds with David Ledger, Laura Bradley, and Caitlin Bean as co-leaders. The trail starts at the 7,500-foot elevation, but the climb is under 300 feet. We will identify wildflowers, birds, and butterflies, and the Mt. Shasta Area Audubon will have copies of Mount Shasta Wildflowers: A Field Guide Featuring the Paintings of Edward Stuhl, for you to buy for a small donation of your choosing.

Bring water, hat, and lunch. Sorry, no dogs on this field trip, please. We will leave Redding at 8 AM to carpool/caravan to Mt. Shasta and meet others there at 9 AM before driving to the trailhead. If you have never been to Panther Meadows, this area is a must-see. Please RSVP to Shasta Group of the Sierra Club (sierraclub.shasta@gmail.com) or Mt. Shasta Area Audubon (mountshastaaudubon@gmail.com) to receive meeting place locations and other information. ~David Ledger
