Very easy to grow in the garden, common yarrow (Achillea millefolium) is a low-growing perennial that will spread slowly, forming a loose mat of scented, ferny green leaves.  The white flowers are produced in clusters on foot-tall stems and are very attractive to a variety of insect pollinators, including bees and butterflies. Despite the delicate appearance of the leaves, this is a tough plant. Yarrow tolerates a broad range of garden conditions—it is happy in sun or part shade, and will grow in clay soils.  It likes low to moderate water in summer.
