Application forms for the annual $2000 Plant Biology Scholarship offered by the Shasta Chapter of the California Native Plant Society are now available.  This scholarship will be awarded to a student who excels in the natural sciences, and who is planning to pursue a career in Plant Biology.  It is awarded based on achievement, motivation, and potential, as opposed to financial need.

Eligible applicants are high school graduates or junior college students who will be entering a 4-year college or university program in the 2023/2024 school year with a plant-biology-related major such as botany, plant ecology, plant conservation, or habitat management/restoration.  The deadline for submittal of this application is Friday, May 5, 2023.  The application with instructions is available for download at the top of our new website page, Scholarships & Grants.

Over the past 25 years, we have awarded one or more scholarships annually to students throughout Shasta Chapter’s region: Shasta, Siskiyou, Modoc, and Lassen counties.  With the ever-increasing costs of college tuition and supplies, we hope that this assistance will help worthy students attain their educational goals.  Please contact me at donaldmburk@gmail.com or 530/347-0849 if you or interested students have questions about our scholarship program.
