The Klamath and Shasta-Trinity National Forests, in collaboration with the Shasta Chapter of the California Native Plant Society, have been offering a display of native wildflowers in Siskiyou County for 30 years on Mother’s Day weekend. Throughout the years, the show has grown and moved and adapted, and this year is no different. For details on this year’s show, please see the article, 31st Annual Siskiyou County Mother’s Day Wildflower Show.
Siskiyou County has an incredibly diverse flora! As you move across the county from east to west, you transition from rolling sagebrush steppe to the steep, rugged slopes of the Klamath-Siskiyou Mountains. This diversity in topography, geology, and climate has created a distinct and expansive regional flora.
The below slideshows represent a cross-section of the herbaceous plants, shrubs, and tree species that occur in Siskiyou County. As you progress through the slideshows, you will encounter common species that are regularly seen, as well as many rare and endemic species that may only be found here and nowhere else. Enjoy!
