Shasta Environmental Alliance’s (SEA) First Annual Environmental Champion Awards presentation in November drew about 120 people to honor Doug Craig, Larry Jordan, Julie Kierstead, Rize Oliveira, and Peggy Rebol for their work in protecting our environment. We kept it simple—just fingerfoods, coffee, lemonade, and tea—essentially no waste except for unbleached brown napkins and the catered food that came in plastic, which was recycled. Each awardee was given a framed award from SEA. Mayor Julie Winter had also arranged for signed City of Redding certificates of accomplishment to go to all of those honored.

This was a fun event. We received many words of appreciation for organizing it, and many people expressed how well they enjoyed the event. We collected $600 in donations, $450 of which went to expenses. Watch for this year’s Environmental Champions Awards and this year’s Redding City Council Candidates Forum organized by SEA!
