On November 5, 2023, 12 native plant enthusiasts from Shasta Chapter CNPS and Master Gardeners, and other local volunteers, shifted 600 young plants (known as liners), to 4-inch containers. Thanks to the Horticulture Department at Shasta College, the young plants will be sheltered for the winter. Special thanks go to Chris Gray, who drove to Elk Grove to pick up the starts—exactly one pickup load, with no plants on anyone’s lap.

We invite you to join us for our next plant propagation session, scheduled for 10 AM on Sunday, December 3, 2023, in the Shasta College Nursery Area. We will demonstrate a few easy techniques for working with seeds and cuttings procured from members’ established native plants. Please email us at shastacnps@gmail.com to let us know you are coming! ~Susan Libonati-Barnes

Special note from Shasta College! Plant propagation volunteers: please park in the large east lot with the solar panels as our Holiday Festival will be running concurrently and will need your usual parking space. (Consider attending the Shasta College Holiday Festival! There will be a petting zoo, and they will have poinsettias, gifts, and ornaments for sale. It’s fun!)
