Dear Members:
The neighborhood honeybees are busy among the manzanita blossoms; the manroot is twining its way up through dead oak branches. Like the manzanita, its bloom time is now. Every year I am surprised by these early bloomers… It’s winter, it’s been dry, it’s still cold. And yet the flowers respond to their cues of light.

I myself am waking from my winter nap. Along with a friendly turkey vulture, I spread my wings in the morning to catch the sun.
