The Shasta College nursery is undergoing a remodel for expansion and improvement of nursery best management practices. Stage one included installing better drainage and four inches of gravel. Our growing benches are now back in place on the new and improved nursery grounds. The next phase will see the incorporation of a perimeter fence and disinfecting mats at the nursery entrances.
While the Shasta Chapter CNPS garden shed at the Shasta College nursery has provided many years of service for our chapter (as well as housing for an overwintering European paper wasp), nursery area upgrades have made us realize just how sad its condition is.
Not only is it badly deteriorated, but it is much too small. There is a group of dedicated Chapter propagators, headed by Catherine McNeight and Chris Gray, who would like to resurrect the shed; and there is another strong contingent that favors a new, bigger, and better shed.
Donations to remedy this problem, either in sweat equity or US dollars, would be most gratefully received. Please contact the Shasta Chapter Propagation Team at ShastaCNPSPropagation@gmail.com to donate or for details. –Doug Mandel
