The Matson-Mowder-Howe Celebration Garden at the North Valley Art League’s Carter House Gallery is shaping up beautifully. Volunteers Sarah Jarrett and Sue Mandel have been working hard at keeping the weeds down and the mulch up.

In bloom is a large bed of gorgeous bleeding hearts, Dicentra formosa; a wonderful bush anemone, Carpenteria californica; and a native columbine, Aquilegia formosa. The sages are in full blossom, and bloom time for the Matilija poppies is just around the corner.

The garden is located in Caldwell Park, at 48 Quartz Hill Road, Redding (across from the Aquatic Center, by the river). Stop by soon if you get a chance! -Sue Mandel
