Karen Little
1936 to 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of long-time Shasta Chapter CNPS member, Karen Little, of Shasta Lake. Karen passed away at the age of 87 on June 10, 2023, following a short illness.
She was an active volunteer for the Shasta Chapter CNPS, spending many weekends helping with plant propagation for the Chapter’s fall and spring native plant sales. Karen also volunteered almost every week for the Shasta Land Trust, doing whatever needed to be done. She was a long-time active member of the Sierra Club, the Trails and Bikeways Council, and Shasta Environmental Alliance (SEA).
Karen stayed physically and mentally fit throughout her life, going on many CNPS and SEA hikes well into her 80s. She will be missed by many for her wit, humor, and love for the natural world. Funeral arrangements are pending.
