Welcome to Fall! Hip hip hooray! Cooler temperatures will soon be here to stay!

The fall-winter-early spring part of the year is, hands down, the best time of year in the Redding area for many outdoor activities, including starting and expanding native plant gardens. (Please see Nursery Happenings: October 2025 for more on pollinator gardens!) And just in time to help you out with that, we are holding our Fall 2025 Native Plant Sale this weekend, at the Shasta College Farm greenhouses! The members-only pre-sale is from 4 to 6 PM on Thursday, October 2; the public portion of our sale is both Friday and Saturday, October 3 and 4, from 9 AM to 4 PM.
Setup
Thursday, October 2: 2 to 4 PM
Members-Only Pre-Sale:
Thursday, October 2: 4 to 6 PM
Public Sale:
Friday, October 3: 9 AM to 4 PM
Saturday, October 4: 9 AM to 4 PM
This year, because our sale coincides with Shasta College’s Community Day at the Farm from 9 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, October 4, parking will only be available at the large parking lot (Sycamore Lot; with the solar arrays—there is a $2 fee to park there) on Shasta College Drive during that time. It is about 2 to 3 blocks away from the greenhouses where we hold our sale. For those who do not wish to walk that distance, there will be a “hayride” shuttle available between the Sycamore Lot and the Farm. Parking on the Farm grounds will be reopened and available after 1 PM on Saturday.
To compensate for difficulties and inconveniences that this may cause, we will open our Online Store on Saturday from 8 AM to 1 PM. Any orders placed during that time will be available for pickup at the Farm between 1 PM and 4 PM. (Shasta Chapter CNPS members will receive an email from the Chapter that contains a code for claiming their member discount prior to the opening of the online store.)
The online store will be at https://cnps-shasta.square.site/ after 8 AM on Saturday, October 4. (You will receive an error message if you try to access the store before then.) Once the store is open, the “Shop All” button in the upper right corner of the home page, above the firecracker flower photo, will take you to the plants for sale. (Also on Saturday, we will have a table of selected plants at Turtle Bay Nursery’s plant sale from 11 AM to 3 PM, but our full line of native plants will only be available online and at Shasta College.)

Please remember to bring your CNPS membership card or the latest copy of your Flora magazine, which should have your member info printed on it, for entry to the in-person sale and to claim your discounts. Memberships will be available for purchase for $50. CNPS members not only get first pick via our members-only pre-sale, but they also receive a 10% discount on all plants. A list of the plants that we will offer at the Fall 2025 sale can be downloaded here: Fall 2025 Native Plant Sale Availability List.
