Shasta Chapter CNPS’ Conservation Chair, David Ledger, was recently profiled in two separate articles! Readers can learn more about David’s past, present, and future work from the CNPS publication, Flora, and from local online news source, Shasta Scout.

In the Summer 2025 edition of Flora, David was featured in the “Volunteer Voices” column. He shared, from his perspective, some of the important conservation work he has undertaken as a member of Shasta Chapter CNPS. Did you know David has been a member of CNPS since around 1990, and has been a member of our Board since 2008?

Read more about his work on page 53 of your own copy of Flora, or check it out online here.

For Shasta Scout, David looked back at his work with the Shasta Environmental Alliance, which he co-founded in 2017. He retired as president of that organization this April, but mentions his continuing work with CNPS through conservation efforts and field trips.

A focus of the article is on how David’s work has inspired community members to reach out to public officials when they oppose development action or other decisions that could affect local natural resources.  The story with Shasta Scout is available here-Heather Taylor
