This has been a month of quiet accomplishments and the end of the spring semester at Shasta College. One of our main challenges has been avoiding over-watering, even from rain.
Roots are growing
This year, Shasta College grads will stand in the diploma line right next to a new planting that includes our plants!

Thank you
…to Christine Kirim for scrubbing pots! She made a significant contribution to our goal to reduce our greenhouse gas footprint—something we have been requested to do by our members and it is a goal that we intend to live up to. Washing up can cool a person down on a warm summer day, so that will be a favorite task on the hottest days ahead. Bring your rubber duckies!
And a big thank you to Angel Ladd and the Shasta College Horticulture program for allowing her to help our nursery on a regular basis this semester. Angel has a strong interest in horticulture, native plants, and introducing children to native plants and vegetable gardening. It’s so good for our nursery to make a variety of connections in our community. We might be so lucky as to help start a school pollinator garden in the future, in a collaboration with Angel and other educators.
