Redding Tree Committee’s first meeting to look at needed changes to the Redding Tree Management Ordinance is slated for 5:30 p.m on Monday, December 5, in City Hall’s Redding Community Room next to City Council Chambers. It will be the first of perhaps three meetings. As a Brown Act committee meeting, members of the public should be able to make comments. The formation of the Redding Tree Committee is a direct result of lobbying by the Shasta Chapter CNPS, Wintu Audubon Society, Sierra Club, and Shasta Environmental Alliance (SEA). Shasta Chapter CNPS Conservation Chair, David Ledger, is on the committee.

Don’t forget Shasta Chapter CNPS’s traditional New Year’s Day field trip on the Westside Trail to “Top of the World,” which this year is being led by Shasta Environmental Alliance. It’s a four-mile, easy to moderate hike. We start at the end of Kilkee Drive, Redding, at 9 a.m. For more information, email david@ecoshasta.org. Heavy rain or snow cancels; otherwise dress for the weather!
