Dear Members:
I am writing on Groundhog Day (yes, really). One of the “official” groundhogs (Punxsutawney Phil) emerged and saw his shadow today… predicting six more weeks of winter. However that works out for us across the continent in the north state, more winter might allow us to amass more snowpack, and further replenish our reservoirs… which I am enthusiastic about!
In the wild, many native plants are still dormant. In the greenhouse, it’s another story…
At Shasta College, the plants intended for the 2023 plant sale are growing like mad! While there will be no propagation session in February, watch for a session in March (TBA). Our plant sale will coincide with Shasta College’s Spring Plant Sale, which is earlier than usual this year:
