The Shasta Chapter CNPS received a very nice, hand-written thank-you note from our Frank Kosko Memorial Scholarship award winner, Zane Walker:
Thank you for generously investing in my future with the Frank Kosko Memorial Scholarship! I am excited to put the resources you have provided to use as a Botany major at Oregon State University. Because of my interest in the botany of northern California, I was particularly excited to receive a scholarship from CNPS. After reading about Frank Kosko’s life story, I am very honored to continue his legacy in some small part.
Thank you so much. I hope to see you at future CNPS events. ~Zane Walker
This summer, when not on the job doing invasive species control with the US Forest Service out of Yreka, Zane has been getting out and about, and hob-nobbing with our far-northern botanists.
The Frank Kosko Memorial Scholarship was made possible, in part, by generous donations from Horsetown Clear-Creek Preserve, Shasta Chapter members Lisa Ross & Ray Pfister, and one anonymous party. The Shasta Chapter is immensely grateful for these donations, more now than ever, as the pandemic cancelled our Spring Native Plant Sale.
