Cool and breezy weather, abundant blooms, and beautiful vistas of Whiskeytown Lake were highlights of last Saturday’s hike on Davis Gulch Trail.

Our group included eight people as well as two lucky pooches, Baxster and Stella, ably led by David Ledger of Shasta Environmental Alliance and assisted by Chris Harvey of Shasta Chapter CNPS.

This moderately difficult hike (with lots of inclines and declines) has been measured at 3.2 miles, but most of the members of the group agreed that it seemed much longer!  Luckily, David left his car at the terminus of the trail near the Brandy Creek Beach area—a big thank you to Yo for facilitating this!  It was a big relief to not have to retrace our steps.

To find the Davis Gulch Trailhead, cross the Whiskeytown Dam and drive ~0.5 miles to arrive at a small parking lot on the right hand side of the road.  Don’t forget to display your Whiskeytown pass on the dashboard of your vehicle, and be sure to carry plenty of water.  Dogs must be leashed.

Please enjoy the following photos that I took on the Davis Gulch Trail.
