Right now, there are lots of eye-popping superb mariposa lilies to be seen on the Cloverdale Loop Trail!
Also not to be missed are the beautiful Bridges’ brodiaeas and clarkias.
Midway through this easy two-mile hike, there is a vista point that offers great views of Clear Creek from the canyon rim.
To enjoy this hike, drive west on Placer Road, Redding. Just before the town of Igo, turn left onto Cloverdale Road and proceed one mile to find the Cloverdale Trailhead parking lot. Alternatively, drive west on Clear Creek Road and turn right onto Cloverdale Road. Travel 0.7 mile to find the parking lot.
Once you’ve arrived, find the trail marker labeled Cloverdale Loop and follow the wide pathway that runs downhill beneath numerous blue oaks and gray pines. After walking about one mile, you’ll arrive at the aforementioned vista point. Then continue to follow the circular trail loop, which will lead you back to the parking lot. -Chris Harvey
