- 10 AM to Noon
- Turtle Bay Nursery Classroom
Trees are a long-term investment and can be an asset rather than a liability around our homes, parks, and streets, and throughout our communities when several factors are considered during selection. We will look at and discuss the factors that should be considered when selecting trees for a given site and what cultural factors are necessary to ensure long-term success as a tree matures.
Join Rico Montenegro at the Turtle Bay Nursery on Saturday, October 12, from 10 AM to noon, as he shares his expertise about tree selection for hot and drought-plagued Shasta County and surrounding areas. Details and registration for this class can be found here: Plant Talk: How to Select, Place, and Care for Trees for Our Area. There is a $10 or $12 fee to take this class.
Rico is a Consulting Certified Arborist, Horticulturist, and Pest Control Advisor, and former Chief Arborist for the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation. He is an old hand at giving talks and guiding tree tours in the greater Redding area, and his advice is widely solicited on all things arboreal. On August 5, 2024, Redding Record Searchlight published an article, Record heat in Redding has not been kind to these popular North State trees, by David Benda, in which Rico was quoted. Read the article for some sage tree-care advice, and attend the class for a more in-depth approach to tree selection, placement, and care.
